Hier, 28 juin, Aleksandre Sokourov demandait à genoux aide et assistance au Pape François pour sauver Oleg Sentsov.

Le Pape François en blanc et en mauvaise compagnie

Вынужден обратиться к вам с просьбой защитить жизнь моего коллеги, украинского режиссера Олега Сенцова, который находится в арктическом российской колонии. Попав в страшный молох политического противостояния Украины и России, Сенцов был осужден в России как человек, не согласный с тем, как развивались события в Крыму. Он получил критически большой срок, несовместимый с продолжительностью жизни человека в этих условиях - 20 лет. Талантливый человек, патриот своей страны, отец двоих детей. Потеряв всякую надежду на милосердие, Сенцов объявил голодовку. Он голодает в течение 46 дней.

Я с благодарностью вспоминаю, что Святой Трон неоднократно обращал внимание на мои кинематографические работы и поддерживал меня. Это сподвигло меня на это обращение. Ваше Святейшество, коленопреклоненно прошу вас, вступитесь за жизнь человека!

A letter from Alexander Sokurov to attention of His Holiness Pope Francis

Your Holiness!

I have to ask you to protect the life of my colleague, the Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, who is in the Arctic settlement in Russia. Having fallen into the terrible grinder of the political opposition of Ukraine and Russia, Sentsov was convicted in Russia as a man who did not agree with how events developed in Crimea.

He was condemned to a critically long term incompatible with the length of life of a person in these conditions - 20 years. A talented person, a patriot of his country, a father of two children. Having lost all hope of mercy, Sentsov went on a hunger strike. He's been on hunger strike for 46 days already.

I remember with gratitude that the Holy Throne repeatedly paid attention to my cinematographic works and supported me. This induced me to this appeal.

Your Holiness, I ask you on my knees, stand up for the life of man!
